Show your markers you love them and refill them veeery carefully and gently. It probably takes two seconds longer but they make a difference …
Since 2020 all Neuland Markers are 100% refillable, which makes them more sustainable. We proudly call this our Refillosophy. But what should you keep in mind when refilling your markers and why did we decide to do it the way we do? With our blog series you’ll turn into a true refill pro in no time!
Strength lies in calmness
Calm down, we’re not in a hurry! If you keep refilling your markers fast and frantically, you might wanna write down this little reminder and place it next to your refill station. ‘Cause when we go too fast, we make mistakes.
This is why we’re approaching this just like a short meditation. And there’s a reason to this: When refilling you’re actually taking a little break from all the hustle and bustle. But before, please make sure your markers are actually empty by slowly drawing a line on a piece of paper. If it’s a rich, deep line, you shouldn’t refill. If the line get’s thinner, you’re good to go.
How to refill
First of all, your marker will be happy when you don’t shove the needle into the membrane like a crazy person. Remember: We want our markers to last a lifetime. Once you’ve gently put in the needle, you press the bulb just as gently. Why? The harder and faster you press the higher the chances of spilling ink.
And what’s next?
You might not notice this teeny tiny mistake at first because the housing of most markers isn’t transparent. If you have bad luck, though, the refill ink will go down the housing’s inside wall and through the socket, instead of the fiber rod.
Is this all?
Of course not! In this series we’ll actually cover everything you need to know about our refill system. In the last article we talked about the cap’s role in the process and next up is the marker’s right position.
