Templates have always been a convenient tool for creatives. The following instructions show you how to make your own template and which effects you can create with it.

You don’t need much to make your own template. Only a piece of thick paper (like a workshop card) in the size you prefer, a marker, and scissors. The Neuland BigOne® you’ll need later on when you’re working with your new template. 🙂

First, draw the shape of your template on the thick piece of paper. I decided to draw a head and, as you can see, it doesn’t have to be extremely precise.

Now, cut it out. I actually wanted to use the head as a template and not the surrounding. You’ll see why I did this soon.

Now put the template on a white piece of paper and start drawing with the Neuland BigOne® as shown in the picture below. In this case, I started on the right (on the template) and went towards the left.

When you remove the template and add two more strokes, you’ll get the following result:

Then, you can add an ear to your drawing and there you have a face in front of a dark background.
